large numbers of men and women in the church represent this population. we attend church, but we don't want to settle down and truly invest ourselves. it promotes healthy respect in churches for leadership and membership and should encourage the church to really be the community of believers we should be. i am telling someone or leveraging my relationship with someone in regards to dating or not dating, i am always doing that within the covenant of me being their pastor and them being a covenant member of the church.

what i have tragically found is that christian singles hit an area of desperation, particularly young women, and they will go: “yeah, he is a christian, he comes to church. the church isn’t some other generation’s responsibility—it isn’t somebody else’s business. the same month this book is released i’ll become the senior pastor of my church.” and really what they’re saying is this guy comes to church a couple of times a month, but outside of attending a service, he doesn’t have a real seriousness about growing in his understanding of the lord, growing in his understanding of the bible, being a prayerful person, no vivication or mortification that can be spotted, and no one who really knows them enough to speak to the growth in their character.

have oftentimes recommended someone hold off dating until the season that they were in with the lord has changed. believes that many, and perhaps even the majority of christians, have a fear of committment to the church. if you want to understand the purpose of church and how you play your part- this is very insightful and practical. and so i think the church really serves and helps christian singles consider marriage and consider dating.
